Apprentice Week Eight: Wedding Woes

The Apprentice's Sara Dhada

- Video: Michael wriggles out of trouble in the boardroom

It was a case of bride and gloom for Sara on this week's Apprentice after she became the latest candidate to be fired from the show.

Sara's team, led by Helene, lost out after failing to shift a single wedding cake in a task which saw the two teams set up rival stalls at a wedding exhibition. We could sense that the writing was on the wall for her after she declared herself a cake expert early on in the task. Big mistake. Later, her pushy sales technique did her no favours and it was this that ultimately led to her downfall in the boardroom. We have an inkling that we had seen the best of Sara on the series and she just didn't have what it takes to go on to win. Shame.

What infuriated us last night was that - yet again - Michael somehow managed to wriggle out of getting fired. This was a guy who last week was involved in cheating on a task and managed to convince Sir Alan to give him 'one last chance' - so why has he now been given yet another 'one last chance'? Does he have something on Sir Alan that is keeping him in the series? We're starting to think that.

Last night Michael was exposed once again as a liar after Margaret pulled him up over the decision to go with the mid-price dresses. We were then treated to yet another display of Michael's naughty schoolboy act where he goes all coy and softly spoken and says he's really, really sorry and promises never, ever to do it again. We really want to see him lead the losing team next week and finally get his marching orders. Enough is enough!

Lucinda shone again as team leader and even the boisterous Claire was singing her praises in the boardroom. We were disappointed though when she didn't go along to help choose the wedding dresses - we'd have loved to see her set up a stall of kooky wedding gowns, all with matching berets. There were no surprises elsewhere when Claire plumped for the BHS frocks. We're still really liking Claire - when she ditches the backstabbing she does seem like a nice person, though we can't see her as Sir Alan's apprentice.

It was another great week for Lee as he sold sparkly knickers to a crowd of blushing brides-to-be. Even Margaret cracked a smile in the boardroom when he was hailed as a thong expert. Perhaps she made a sly purchase at the exhibition? If Lee can keep a lid on his agressive side then he is a serious contender, however, we did count a further three "C'mons!" last night - a sackable offence in our book.

As for Raef and Helene - we think Helene's card is now well and truly marked after last night's task and Raef just seemed like a bit of a spare part. We're not sure why he dressed up as a giant teddy bear to promote sexy wedding lingerie. Any ideas? As for Alex - yes he sold a few dresses last night but we still can't stand the whiner. Nice to see he found time to squeeze in a haircut between tasks.

We think that a Lucinda v Lee final is now looking increasingly likely. Do you agree? Did Sara deserve to be sacked last night? Why do you think Michael is still in the competition? Let us know what you think...

i dont like Claire at all, i think she is boosy and forceful. I think she should go next week. The Lucinda vs Lee showdown sounds really good, they work well together. I think that Helene should have been fired last night, i think she was the blame for losing.

Why do websites and news agencies insist on spoiling the endings of TV programmes by making them headline news? I've still to watch the Apprentice but I might as well not bother now thanks to Yahoo. It's the same when I'm in the car - the radio tells everyone what happened. WHY? The only people who are interested are people who watch the Apprentice and those people will either know who got sacked so don't need to be told or don't know and don't want to know because they've recorded it and want to watch it later. THANKS YAHOO! THANKS FOR NOTHING!

What gets me about The Apprentice is its catchphrase; "You're fired" when noone has yet been employed!

I employ 35 people and I wouldn't give a single one of them a job. If my staff whinged as much I'd sack the lot of them. Plus My male staff shave every day!!

It will be Lucinda and Raef in the final, Micheal is completely out of his depth and is a complete @#$%, And as for Lee, anybody who says "Now thats what i am taking about, C'mon" is total @#$%.

Obviousley the BBC doesnt think she makes for good TV viewing, you would have to be slightly brain dead to keep the either of the other two in, just goes to show what a fix it really all is. Oh well, another reality show that is far from being real.

Lucinda is ok but I really dont think she has waht it takes. I love Raef. He always has good input and he works well with everyone. Lee... what a geyser.. I love him too but ive seen him get far too aggressive after a few drinks and that puts me off. Helene, Michael, Alex - wasted space. Any anyone i havent mentioned... well goes without saying doesnt it!! Michael is only there for viewer rating. I wouldnt be suprised if he comes third.

Michael is a complete tw@t, but I said that six weeks ago. Its taken that long for people to realise this. I am convinced he is not even qualified. Helene's idea for coloured dresses was quite good I thought but a high risk strategy won on the day. Business is business. I still think Alex to win but my vote sits alongside only 5% of others thinking the same thing. Why Alex because he is crafty, clever, knows how to sell, can read people, does not have his card marked, is a team player. If he team leads and loses he may be in trouble. He needs a big win to propel him forward.

Although Helene made the wrong choice of product she went up a level in my estimatation when she acknowledged the contribution alex made to the team ... a slight redemption after the previous stuff with Lucinda.
