Hollyoaks was the surprise big winner at the British Soap Awards after scooping six prizes at last night's bash.
The Channel 4 soap picked up top acting honours for stars Chris Fountain and Emma Rigby and was also awarded Best Exit, Most Spectacular Scene, Best On-Screen Partnership and Sexiest Female.
Coronation Street was a close second after picking up five awards including Sexiest Male for Rob James Collier and Best Comedy Performance for Maggie Jones, who plays the brilliant Blanche.
However, it was EastEnders that took the top award after being named Best Soap - the show's other three awards included Best Storyline for the Max and Stacey affair.
Emmerdale had to make do with just a couple of awards including Best Single Episode for baby Daniel's death.
But the biggest cheer of the night was for Corrie legend Liz Dawn who picked up a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Ill health forced Liz to quit the soap in January after playing Vera for 34 years.

eastenders should not off getting best soap it should of been cornation street i watch hollyoaks and it was great they got pick up 6

How on earth Eastenders won best soap, and as for the best storyline being Max and Stacey's affair - I found the whole thing quite nauseating to watch. I think Doctors deserve some recognition, incredibly difficult for a daytime soap to compete against the big names though.

The Hollyoaks cast are all beautiful and brilliant actors, the storylines this year have been so well though out. A well deserved win for Hollyoaks. Well Done.
