If you're a fan of soap bitches - and frankly, who isn't? - it's time to hang out the bunting because Janine Butcher is on her way back to Albert Square.

The hard-nosed EastEnder made a brief return last month for the funeral of her dad Frank but will return in the Autumn as a permanent fixture.

Charlie Brooks, who plays the murderess, has signed a £100,000 deal to return to the BBC soap, reports today's Sun.

Janine left the show four years ago after being acquitted over the muder of Laura Beale.

Pat had tried to frame the ex-prozzie for Laura's death after finding out that Janine was responsible for Barry's death - a crime she managed to get away with.

    For god's sake. Eastenders has gone so far down hill, all they can think of doing is bring back old characters. First Ricky and Bianca, now janine. And for what? to rehash old storylines because they can't think of anything else.

    I'll be pleased to see Charlie Brooks back as Janine. But Bianca! No, no, no! Patsy Palmer couldn't act her way out of a compost heap - please may she and her not-credible brood vanish suddenly in not-suspicious circumstances. Please.
