The fact that he considered a grade B at GCSE a 'failure' was indicative of stupidity. We all know that the best way to learn is through mistakes. I think this person should make as many errors as possible from now on in the 'real world'. This will serve to round his education off with the necessary experience. As far as the other two were concerned, though, I think all three should have been fired to avoid victimising Nicholas alone. Get it right Sir Alan and ditch those cronies whilst you are at it!
