Who's in the money?

I love the show, and he's a great doctor who, but not £1.5 mil's worth! This is our licence fee, people...! He's only an actor. If the BBC has that much to spend (and apparently, judging by some other 'celebrity' salaries, they do) then maybe they don't need public money anymore. Our taxes (and that's what the licence fee is) should be spent on things that matter eg real doctors who actually do save lives - bit of perspective please everyone.
