Beverley Callard is to return to 'Coronation Street', two years after departing the soap.

The 56-year-old actress, who played Liz McDonald since 1989, left the show in 2011 after revealing that she was suffering from depression.

It was also reported that she had gone bankrupt.

Her depression led her to have a breakdown, which was treated with controversial electroconvulsive therapy.

She later admitted that she had twice tried to take her own life.

But it's said that since she successfully toured with a production of 'Little Voice' earlier this year, she's been offered her old job back.

The Sun reports that Corrie boss Stuart Blackburn has given her a six-month contract worth around £50,000.

A source told the paper: “Stuart’s a massive fan of Bev, and Liz is an iconic character. She left last time because she was poorly, but she’s fully recovered now.”

It's not the first time she had quit the show. She also left in 1998, returning five years later, and then again in 2010 for a month. [The Sun]

Hundreds of fans of 'Britain's Got Talent' have been venting their anger on Twitter following the guest performance of J-Lo on the show.
