Michael Jackson's crystal-studded boots made £9,200 at a celebrity auction chaired by his sister Janet.

The King of Pop's boots - which he had intended to wear at his planned comeback concerts - were among the lots at a charity event in Italy, which was held on the sidelines of Milan Fashion Week.

Organisers said the event - attended by the likes of Kanye West and Linda Evangelista - made a total of £693,000 for the American Foundation for Aids Research (amfAR), a non-profit organisation that supports HIV/Aids research.

"I'd just like to thank everyone here in the global fashion community who've done so much to help amfAR and to support HIV/Aids research," Jackson told diners, who paid up to £7,000 each to attend.
