Simon Cowell's X Factor "nightmare" will continue for at least another week after twins John and Edward survived the latest public vote.

Instead it was Rachel Adedeji who was left in tears after she got the boot in her third sing-off.

Rachel faced Lloyd Daniels - who was suffering from a sore throat - after they received the fewest public votes.

Judges Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh backed Rachel while Cheryl Cole voted to save Lloyd, leaving Simon with the deciding vote.

He said Rachel sang much better than Lloyd, but he could not ignore her lack of popularity with the public.

He used his vote to create a tie which meant the decision rested solely on viewers' votes.

Tears rolled down Rachel's cheeks when she was told she had received the lowest number and was leaving the show.

"Thank you to everyone who has supported me," she said.

"It's been amazing and I got to meet so many lovely people and work with great judges."

She told her mentor Dannii Minogue: "You're amazing."
